Energy house
This resource provides instructions and plans for building a model energy (or solar) house. A number of experiments are included where the temperature inside the house is monitored over time and recorded graphically. Experiments in heat loss investigate the effect of adding insulation, windows, curtains and a chimney to the house. In experiments in heat gain students learn how solar collectors work, and the greenhouse effect and passive heating are demonstrated. How to keep a house cool in summer is also considered. Additionally the site includes some activities related to sun angles and the path of the sun in the different seasons.
